IRSC hosts AFA Cyber Patriot camp
Indian River State College hosted the Air Force Association’s Cyber Patriot camp this past summer. The camp consisted of roughly 30 kids between the ages of 10 and 18 who spent the week getting intense, hands-on cyber security training. The Advanced Technology department’s own Steve Nicholson was the team mentor and trainer for these bright young students. The camp consisted of several modules designed around protecting and hacking the Linux and Windows operating systems. The final event of the week was a scored team-based competition, where one of the Stuart Civil Air Patrol’s own groups took first place.
